In the past week I've been ranting and raving on reddit about this nonsense. Here is what I've had to say about all this garbage behavior and anti-intellectualism lately.
Why are these students here? Some racist shit went down, some administrators didn't handle it perfectly, yatta yatta go read the news elsewhere. This is an opinion blog, not the news. The context is this:
- Students formed a chain blocking in a tent city on PUBLIC GROUND claiming it was a "safe-space" where the "media weren't allowed".
- The media said "That's insane" because it is.
- A psychopath "professor" calls for "muscle" (committing verbal assault) to remove him from PUBLIC GROUND.

Also, I happen to disagree with him on pretty much every point but still have the utmost respect for his writing. Perhaps I'm just too vile and stagnant to recognize progress when it stares at us. My principle objections to this stuff is that THESE SPECIFIC PROTESTERS crossed a very particular line (legally and ethically and morally) by harassing the media members with their "safespace" bullshit. You cannot fucking occupy public space in the name of "freedom" and "safety". That's retarded. Literally retarded and hypocritical. Therefor, if these protesters can cross a line, it shows there is a line to be crossed. By extension, I view that line as a problem. Where the capacity for a problem exists, it should be addressed or at minimum discussed intellectually, not WHO CAN SCREAM THE LOUDEST! RAH RAH SHIMSHCUMBAH!!
(1) Personally, i think safe spaces do nothing but catalyze issues and crystallize intolerance between rival groups, that may otherwise not have existed. And where they do exist I think it just highlights them and widens the void. You want a fucking safespace? Go to a friend's house. So, where does it stop? NO GIRLS ALLOWED IN THE FORT!! No Jews. No sexual-attackhelicopter-kin...No red heads. Hey! His dick was circumcised! GET HIM OUT OF HERE!....etc etc etc. Anyone can be demonized.
(2) Second, I object largely to the "we should help the weak...WITH TRIGGER WARNINGS!!". I'm sorry, but no one should be FORCED to put a warning that something is "offensive" or rather "potentially offensive". You can all go fuck yourselves in your smug little faces and drink bleach for all I care. Cry me a river. What I won't say is you deserve rape, or should die, and I'm astounded some people have gone so far as to suggest that, even sarcastically. Really people? REALLY?!

IN MY SUBJECTIVE OPINION:
These people hate themselves. They might circle hug in public, but they go home and self injure, starve themselves, scream in mirrors, cry for days on end about nothing, cut their hair and then regret it, clench their fists until they bleed because they're so stressed, and generally have no friends that aren't mirror images of this archetype. I don't mean this as an attack; contrarily, I find it really quite tragic...though I find them equally insufferable (and I've literally been spit on for preaching anarchy at them).
THE MAKING OF AN SJW
Unfortunately, many suffer from anxiety and depression. and I do mean unfortunately. Most of them can't help being this way, because they've literally never been exposed to another way of life. Diapers until now, the regime has raised them. It's not a good look.
Coping mechanisms aren't really taught in schools. Zero-tolerance has been around for their entire experience through high school and soon some in middle school that grew with it. These children were taught to "call the teachers" or police as an ONLY LINE of defense (proof of this exists when you hear them threatening to call the police). They weren't taught to fend for themselves, or to fight back against injustice (unless in herds).
They were told that the adults (the system) will protect them no matter what, and unfortunately, as the rest of us know that just isn't the way things work. We don't teach self-defense in school. We teach scream and cry. We don't teach "dude shut the fuck up" we teach "zero tolerance. Both parties expelled".
The net result is a cognitive dissonance so strong they truly and honestly believe that what they are doing good for the world and themselves. Realistically, most (despite the fact they are buying a degree) aren't smart enough to or weren't taught critical thinking and the result of the latter is this type of nonsense making headlines. It's atrocious behavior.
Add into the mix fringe nutters like that "professor" who power trip and yeah...it's a train wreck. Not as bad as Kent State (National Guard fired and killed 4 students in 1970 at a war protest), but still infuriating, because of who they targeted (the media, their own students, themselves, etc). It's just so frustrating.
I think by now most Americans who aren't living with their heads willfully up their ass have concluded that our current system is bursting at the seams with bullshit. Whether it explodes or not only time will tell, but these kids have learned a few things, namely that they are totally fucked in the future. The ONLY THING these kids have going for them is that degree. And literally anyone can buy one. It was a false promise that robbed them, and whether they like it or not THEY will deal with those consequences. And that builds anger. That builds distrust. That builds (ironically) community and solidarity. Add into that folks joining for race and gender reasons (2 hot topics as of 2015) and you get the perfect storm for the rise of leftist cultism (Again, Nazi parallel).
PART II: THE NET RESULT
The types of people who would call the cops to silence opposition, while still waving the banner of freedom.
So what do you get when you mix:
* Kids who have never had to fend for themselves
* Kids who have been actively taught NOT to think for themselves
* Kids who have been bullied and really are different (self included)
* Kids who want so badly to be part of a social movement because they just don't know what else to do
* Kids who have been taught any type of offensive behavior is illegal (or at least they take it that way--evidence in the Yale video)
* Kids who have a "safe place" online where they can circle-hug, largely without adult supervision (or logic for that matter)
* Kids who have never been taught critical thinking (the fact that the 1st amendment applies to...you know..the press?)
* Kids who are so desperate and pathetic and disenfranchised that are given access to . . .
* Social media, where they can run their own kangaroo courts--and where they see the results by simply BEING LOUD ENOUGH TO MATTER RAH RAH SHISHCOMBAH!!
* Kids with ACTUAL REAL PROGRESSIVE ISSUES THAT NEED ADDRESSING: and this is why they keep growing. A lot of them do have real issues that need addressing...but not like this
* Kids who have never been exposed to different outlets for their frustration: By extension, they have LATCHED ONTO THE COMMON CORE CATALYSTS (e.g trigger warnings being a good idea, safe spaces, blah blah blah---it's very 1930's Nazi like in my humble opinion)
The aggregate of all of this is why there are a huge number of suicides and why they're all so terrified of "triggers".
Other factors, often more decisive / visible (issues involving strong passions: race, gender, etc) rear their ugly heads where this phenomena exists and allows. And you get movements like this that honestly accomplish absolutely nothing, because they have no message (looking at you BLM!).

*Personally,* I think ALL OF THIS SJW CRAP is a big waste of time. It's a distraction for other more pressing problems that NO ONE wants to touch with a 10 foot pole. It's easy to say racism bad! Patriarchy bad! White man bad! blah blah and blow things extremely far out of proportion and get lost in a tide of passion (little Mrs. Twilight Redhead) slinging insults at each other, or starting mobs...It's a lot more difficult to say "This system needs to be abolished, by any means necessary. The current paradigm is a disaster, just fucking look at us. Something has to give." I suspect the rhetoric will change to that quite soon, and we'll see a repeat of the 1960's. One can dream :)
So while these goons pick low-hanging fruit to rage against the machine, the rest of us just sigh and roll our eyes and continue to not be phased by it.

As a concession, after discussion with some dude online, I should warn you that this dude (the unabomber) is only famous because he's a murderer--not on the merit of his words alone. PART 4: CMCers "Anti-white" "Safe-Space" nonsense.
To give some background on this, these children are angry that the administration of their school is being reluctant to bend to their demands of creating a "safe-space" (AKA we decide who let in--based on things like race and religion etc.). When they weren't given their way, and when an email about "a mold" or something ticked them off (a gross over reaction and they didn't want to hear about her side of it).

I left a comment last night on their official channel before this got huge or was posted on reddit (I was literally the 2nd comment on youtube) addressing this. I hope these fucking emotionally disturbed idiots really take note of what the rest of the stable country is telling them. BACK OFF. YOU HAVE GONE WAY TOO FAR!!
On a positive (though a hunger strike is just attention whoring bullshit) note, there was one cogent and articulate young woman, who made her point known, without being unreasonable or breaking into emotionally disturbed "Crocodile" tears. 50m00s. But honestly, if this is the best they can do I'm not impressed.
These butthurtt special snowflake little pussies have realized that through the use of social media they can cry-bully anyone they want into stepping down by being vocal enough. It's a modern day lynch mob run by disorganized children with megaphones. As one user on reddit pointed out to me, they don't even take themselves seriously. They're laughing and making jokes about it. It's not a real movement.
Most of these children if I had to guess will never grow up and sure as fuck will hire only each other because bet your ass no one in their stable mind would give a job to these insufferable cunts of all variety.
I think the rest of us can agree that the fringe "left" has swung so far to the "right" that it's not even worth categorizing anymore in terms of ideology or any other type of political conviction. It's just maturity, sanity, and emotional stability. These "students" and SERIOUSLY LACKING all three.
These developmentally challenged racist kids don't deserve a college education if they think being racist and kicking whites, or anyone, or even making these conflated demands to remove students out of their spaces is a productive use of tuition. Especially in the way they want these demands met: I.E immediately, by magic, or else we'll literally scream, cry, stamp out feet, block hallways, and LITERALLY threaten to kill ourselves by starvation until you give us everything we demand!
